I know this is totally random, but I felt I must share. I must say this, it is hilarious to see the spam that is being published and sent to people online. I forget the name of the author, but I truly do enjoy following his example in regards to how he deals with such cases. He actually writes them back and in a creative matter, gets them to make mistakes in their well thought out tall-tales. I absolutely loved the article and what it showcased, so I had to follow suit. While I may not be as creative, I have had some success...... It's really quite fun.....

                                                        VEGAS, Baby!! (Part 1)

Well, believe it or not I just spent the weekend in Vegas. Simply put, it was awesome. Now I know what you're all thinking... she went on a drinking binge.... probably did some gambling... maybe she even got lucky? The truth is that this is not even close to what happened. To me, an amazing weekend in Vegas actually involved taking in the sights. I saw a lot of leg, and quite a bit of boob, and a lot of sparkles and sequins. I also went to museums, and saw great landscapes, (for those with dirty minds, wipe those thoughts out of your head...). You know, it's funny, even though it was cold there was still quite a lot of skin to be seen. I guess in Vegas any girl can become a slut, or even just look like one. I guess this is why the saying goes-"what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!" (The biggest irony of all this is that while I am typing this, I am currently wearing a t-shirt with the exact slogan.)

When the trip was first thought of, I had to clean my ears out. I honestly did not believe that my father mentioned the idea to me! This was something that I never saw coming at all. (Though to be honest, it was a nice surprise. I thought I knew my father. It's cool to see that even your parents can surprise now and again after such a long time. To tell you the truth, my mom surprises me more times than I can count.... don't get me started on that-we'll save that for another time.) Moving on...... we arranged the trip which ended up with me missing another class, and my professor later chewing me out as usual. (again, another story......)

We left to Vegas Thursday afternoon (with my trusty Dramamine in hand), and arrived around 8 pm, (this was Vegas time of course. For us New Yorkers it was 11 pm.). We then spent around 30 minutes getting our bags and the rental car (shows you how damn big the airports are). Stopping by the hotel next, we sorted the mess out about the rooms and then we went out to look around a bit. my parents and I decided that we wanted to get some dinner, (yes I know it was practically midnight, but we were hungry). Even though there is a three hour difference, we were on a plane for technically eight hours, and we wanted food. With some searching, (and getting a little lost on the way), we found a restaurant. However, seating at the restaurant was closing at 10:30. At that time it was 10:15. The chances were slim that someone in that restaurant would even let us in.

This is where we found out something rather fabulous. The people in Las Vegas are really, really nice! I know it's probably due to the fact that a big chunk of their economy is based off of tourism, but let me put it to you in layman's terms-I am from New York. So kindness like this is unheard of. (We were voted the rudest city in the world for a reason. Don't get me wrong, I live in and love New York, but the people who live here are rude for the most part. My mother later informed that other places that she and my father had been too were, for the most part, almost equally as nice. But....... since we live where we do, any kindness like this is considered somewhat extraordinary.)

Anyway.... when we approached the restaurant (The name of the place is Jerusalem Steakhouse; and I am naming them for the simple reason of them being so fabulous with their service.), we asked if there was possibility for us to sit and maybe get food. Now, let me remind you we came into the restaurant around 10:15. So we were expecting a polite "Sorry, but we're closing shortly." We would not have minded, and we wouldn't think anything bad of the place. However, what happened next went above and beyond what was expected. They not only seated us with smiles and nice words, but they brought us menus and told us to take our time to decide!

We decided to order fast because we felt somewhat guilty. Nonetheless, the lovely workers quickly assuaged our guilt. My parents and I ordered delectable food, and enjoyed what we could before our stomachs gave out. In the meantime, the restaurant staff kept coming over to us to make sure we were happy with the food, and even made small talk with us. After when we finished, we find that we were given the boxes to pack up our leftovers since the law in Vegas is once the food leaves the kitchen-the staff is not allowed to touch it. (I guess they don't want people to assume their food could be spit in...... but then you never know.)

Once we left the hotel, my father decided that we would party until late. So my parents decided that we would go to the Freemont Street Experience. The Freemont Street Experience consisted of a few blocks that were covered in many lights, little booths, bars among other sights and sounds that were popular among Vegas. For us tired people it was quite a brilliant light and sound show for the eyes. I mean there were SO MANY lights! We walked around and took quite a few pictures and just really soaked it all in. My folks and I even saw the legendary cowboy sign. There were many other sights and sounds that we also took in-famous bars, clubs, cowgirl signs, and even a zip-line above us. It was a feast for the eyes. When it was around 1 a.m., we decided it was time to head back to the hotel for some shut-eye so we could wake up early the next morning. (However, you know that is not going to happen due to jet-lag. I mean especially when there is a time difference. I will explain this later.....)

The next morning we set our sights on Red Rock Canyon. This was considered to be a substitution since we were not able to make the trip to the Grand Canyon itself. (It wasn't so much that we could not, rather it would be a waste of time spent since we were only in Vegas for the weekend.) The trip to the Canyon showed us beautifully clean sights and sounds in Vegas. It was nice not to smell the toxic pollution of New York all the time. (Don't get me wrong, I love my home city, it's just full of things that I could do without ;p) The mountains were a beautiful sight to see. Even though they were all neutral tones, it was a truly a majestic sight to behold. There was something so incredible about the mountains and how hard it looked like it would be to hike or climb it. In fact we actually saw people climb it! We were amazed and slightly frightened for them........
